Welcome to dbOHS

Welcome to David Bromwich & Associates – Consulting Occupational Hygienists. We provide occupational hygiene services, training, advice and contract research in Australia, though the business is based in Brisbane. For simplicity, we call ourselves dbOHS.

David also has strong links with Griffith University with his research, through the Center for Environmental and Polulation Health. For more details see About us

You will notice a “translate” link near the top of each page. This allows a reasonable translation of the page into some 52 languages. Sorry, the downloads are only English.

I am slowly rebuilding my website.  Some of my main publications are now re-linked.

For your interest I am placing in the downloads and publications sections, a lot of (hopefully) useful information on this website, distilled from my career in health physics and occupational hygiene. This will include -

  • 12 Costly Mistakes - some of the lesser known pitfalls that I commonly encounter
  • Information sheets for converting ppm to mg/m3, adding decibels or adjusting noise exposure limits to shifts other than 8 hours
  • My  publications - many as PDF files
  • Historical occupational hygiene articles as PDF files , some from over 100 years ago – readable, but not perfect copies. Plus a few pictures.
  • An associated Blog blog.dbohs.com. This is less formal and highlights OHS issues, sometimes linking back to this site for downloads. There is also an “RSS”  Blog Feed

Enjoy!

Though dbOHS could be read as “David Bromwich Occupational Health & Safety”, the business is more about preventing occupational disease than occupational injury – occupational health rather than safety.

dbOHS is registered as a business in Queensland  BN201144647 and Australia ABN 79676149575. dbOHS is registered for GST

dbOHS carries public liability and professional indemnity insurance, with exclusions for asbestos and ionising radiation. Though I have published a several  research papers on asbestos, I am more than happy for asbestos specialists to do routine asbestos work. My insurance company is happy for dbOHS to do low level radiation surveys.

Skin Decontamination Research Grant

Dr Bromwich has recently landed a Category 1 research grant “Risk-based decision making for skin decontamination” as part of a consortium with:

  • Associate Professor Dino Pisaniello (University of Adelaide) – the main centre
  • Associate Professor John Edwards (Flinders University)
  • Dr Sue Reed (University of Western Sydney)

The grant is likely to run for at least 3 years and is jointly funded by the (Australian) Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Attorney General’s Department. The grant was made under the 2008-09 Australian Government co-funding of chemical, biological and radiological countermeasure research projects
